Bakit Napakaraming Bakanteng Condominium Units sa Bansa?

Image

Why Filipinos Need Trees to Bike

Image
We need to saturate roadsides with trees  if we want sustainable transport for the majority.   Bicycle ride is the most practical and sustainable transport for the working-class Filipinos. But what keeps Filipinos from biking?   Working class Filipinos like to bike-to-work, not only for practical reasons like getting to your destination faster, and to engage in physical exertion, but to save on money and time. But why do not-so-many Filipinos bike? Three main reasons keep Filipinos from using bikes. 1. The extreme heat of navigating tree-less/ shade-less roads 2. The smoke from motorized vehicles 3. Safety.   Why are there less trees in our roads?   Many politicians, #DPWH dreamers, #planners and urban designers, for some delusional reasons, actually believe Philippine roads should have U.S.-like highways that could accommodate at least 6 trucks or cars side-by-side at any given time. So, they prohibit planting of trees near roads due to #future...

Climate Change, NGP Survival Rate, & WasteGardening

Image
More than 400 students and alumni of the PMI Colleges learned about tree planting and gardening with limited resources through the Graduation Legacy Tree Planting and Wastegardening workshop April 13 at the EMB-NCR and  Conservation and Development Division Eco Park. The activity is enforcing the Graduation Legacy for Reforestation and Arbor Day laws of the Philippines. Both laws mandate the youth starting at age 12 to plant a tree every year with the former requiring all graduating elementary, high school, and college students to plant at least 10 trees each as a prerequisite for graduation. Two skills are targeted in the said activity: plant trees and reduce wastes. Participants were taught how to make shovel and tiller from shampoo or lotion bottle, pots from water gallons, and soil from waste food, papers, leaves, wood shavings, pet stools, and peels from fruits and vegetables.  The Forest Management Bureau under the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and...
