Mark Carpio’s heartfelt humility and easygoing charm shine through whether
he is performing or simply living his day-to-day life. He recently celebrated
the launch of his Huling Pag-Ibig EP album with an
intimate press event at the Grimaldi Restobar inside the posh Monaco Strip in
Taytay. If you have yet to discover Mark Carpio, picture someone who stands at
the crossroads between fresh talent and seasoned pro—carrying quiet confidence that only comes from weathering life’s storms.
Just before we stepped inside, my attention was caught by a billboard of
Mr. Reynaldo Carpio, CEO and owner of Grand Monaco Land. Little did I know that
this fleeting glimpse would soon take on unexpected significance. That sign
would later connect the dots in a story far richer than a simple album
premiere.
The ‘Quadrilogy of Love’ Takes
the Stage
On April 10, 2026, under Empire.PH Music, Mark delivered an emotional
performance that impressed everyone present as he shared the story behind each
track. In hindsight, the EP setlist reminded me so much of an artist group from
the early 80s—Kool and the Gang weaving a story of love with “No Show,” “Too
Hot,” and “Jones vs. Jones.” This time, let’s call it Mark Carpio’s
"quadrilogy of love"—a four-track journey through love, loss,
healing, and emotional closure. The kind of experience that makes one grow in
wisdom.
The Mark Carpio EP launch opened immediately with Mark
and his band onstage. As the first notes echoed, we knew we were entering
‘hugot territory.'
Kay Tagal: Longing and Rediscovered Love
“Kay
Tagal” explores the pain of longing after heartbreak and the
unexpected discovery of true love. The song emphasizes commitment and hope for
enduring love. In a culture where brief romances are common, it resonates with
those seeking something lasting. Mark’s live performance conveyed genuine
emotion as he dedicated the song to his fiancée in attendance.
Ayaw Mo Na: The Ache of Unrequited Love
“Ayaw
Mo Na” delves into heartbreak. It captures the ache of
believing you have found true love, only to realize the feeling is not mutual.
The song lays bare the painful awakening that the love you longed for was never
truly yours.
Hiling: Moving Forward with Unanswered Questions
“Hiling” reflects the bittersweet experience of moving forward
while carrying unresolved questions and emotions, expressing a sincere hope
that this time, everything will come together.
Paalam Na: The Focus Track That Closes the Quadrilogy
Closing the quadrilogy is “Paalam
Na,” the EP’s focus track—a
powerful farewell that seals the emotional arc of the entire project.
A Family Name, A Decade of
Patience
Earlier, we referenced a billboard featuring Grand Monaco Land CEO Mr.
Reynaldo Carpio. The Carpio family name should have been a giveaway—darn! Mr.
Reynaldo Carpio, it turns out, is Mark Carpio’s father and
owns the Monaco mansion in Cubao, where Jojo Alejar once invited us to a talk
show to discuss song magazines several years ago.
We also learned that all the songs on the album were created by Mark over ten years, reflecting remarkable patience. As he
anticipates another milestone in his life (getting engaged), releasing an EP of
this scale is fitting. Mark is a businessman himself; he doesn’t have to
perform. The challenges he has faced have taught him important lessons. He
firmly believes that his talent is meant to relate to people—and not
necessarily to profit from it. That’s a very novel thought.
For anyone seeking authentic OPM storytelling, Mark Carpio EP
launch delivers a quadrilogy of love that lingers long after the last
note fades.
