Bold Flavors, Two Cultures: Italian-Filipino Inspired cuisine in Marikina

Taking inspiration from its sister establishment, Basil, Pizza, and Pasta way over in El Nido, Palawan, Cuore restyles Italian cuisine by merging it with Filipino flair and flavor in Marikina. Yes, Marikenyos, and nearby cities don’t have to go far to go Italian in this part of town. The result is a menu that blends the comfort of the familiar with a touch of Italian elegance, inviting you to linger over each dish, savor every bite, and truly connect.   Cuore, meaning 'heart' in Italian, was chosen to reflect the restaurant’s commitment to thoughtfully prepared, shareable meals. Generous portions, including options for two or more, encourage communal dining. The menu and atmosphere are designed to create a welcoming space where guests can relax, talk, dine, enjoy jazzy background music, and appreciate the ambience. The spacious setting offers guests a comfortable environment to unwind after a long day.   Kara De Guzman, from Marikina City, founded Cuore’ after ...

Authentic Bicolano Comfort Food Café with Pastries and Coffee in Town

From Kamuning to Marikina, Ser & Nor have come a long way from their small home-bake startup in Kamuning, Quezon City, to the business they run now. Ser & Nor started with breads and pastries, such as cheese rolls and cookies, and delivered food trays to offices.   Through sheer goodwill and word of mouth, the siblings managed to make it work. Stephen Prestado, one of two brothers in the family, did a great job on the menu and restaurant aesthetics. At the same time, another sister handles the gastronomic side, and Joanna, the ever-gracious hostess of the family, manages the finances. Last year, in 2024, they established their base in Marikina, where they introduced Bicol delicacies like toasted siopao and pancit bato .   The establishment, as you know by now, is a family-run business that started from very humble beginnings. Frances Florence, Joanna Joy, and Stephen Prestado each oversee their respective roles. It also helped that one staff member prev...

Marikina’s Affordable Unli-Grill Restaurant Serving Unlimited BBQ Goodness

Only months old, as we were made aware on an earlier pre-coverage talk (11-14-2025) by Unli-Ihaw (by Cirma Foodpark) proprietor Filip, and cousin GJ, this food establishment is rocking the 'eat-all-you-can' fares in this part of Marikina by offering affordably priced packages for choice meats.   Unli-Ihaw (by Cirma Foodpark) is located in an enclave in Cirma Foodpark, next to SaveMore, Marikina, the Shoe Avenue branch, and at the back of the Amang Rodriguez Hospital. It also serves Unli-Lahat (All) and craft beers for those who want to unwind and spend an evening of wining and dining. Not bad, right?   The restaurant traces its origins to a business trip taken by two cousins, both passionate food lovers, to a remote town far from the comforts of amenities, restaurants, or even electricity. As it happened, they were constrained to bring their own food. Armed with nothing but a cooler and a portable griller, they cooked their meals over an open fire—simple, smo...

Abba Grill and Deli Serves Up Mediterranean Favorites—Perfect for Solo Meals or Group Feasts

Every creation has a unique tale, and Abba Grill and Deli is no exception. Ivery and Don, a husband and wife pair, are fully aware of this. Don felt it one day at work, and it lingered with the pair for a few days. This occurred around the conclusion of last year, 2025. Don became restless at one point and considered launching his own restaurant—one that would serve as a playground for creative kitchen experiments rather than a cash grab. After all, this duo has all of the experience necessary to start from scratch and promote Abba Grill and Deli. To begin with, the duo is naturally creative. Muscle memory, to put it bluntly. He (Don) is, after all, a culinary graduate, now a chef, who has worked in restaurants and hotels in Boracay and Manila. She (Ivery), a writer and former English professor, who first came across several sorts of cheeses and charcuterie at a delicatessen near the university where she had taught. It was meant to be! Moreover, Don and Ivery hav...
